Denver Summit FC Breaks Ground, Plans Most 2028 Home Games in Centennial

The Santa Fe Yards design now calls for 12,500 fixed seats, down from an earlier 14,500-seat plan. Completion is targeted for the end of 2028.

Denver Summit FC broke ground October 1 on its permanent stadium at Santa Fe Yards and announced a revised design: 12,500 fixed seats, with room for 13,000 people including standing room. The club targets completion by the end of 2028 and expects to play most of its 2028 regular-season home matches at Centennial Stadium.

For fans looking ahead to 2028, the immediate consequence is a change in where to expect those games, despite the Denver groundbreaking. The stadium is planned for a 14-acre site near South Broadway and Interstate 25.

A smaller venue and a later target

An earlier club plan called for 14,500 seats and a spring 2028 opening. The newly announced design has 12,500 fixed seats; standing room raises its total capacity to 13,000. Completion by the end of 2028 is a target, rather than a date for the first match at the new venue.

The city decisions preceded the ceremony. Denver City Council approved the stadium property agreement and a zoning change for 709 South Delaware Street in December 2025. The October 1 news is the groundbreaking and the club’s revised capacity and timetable, not a new council approval.
