RTD’s Direct Longmont–DEN Bus Starts Sept. 27 With Hourly Service

RTD’s new SkyRide Route AL takes effect Sept. 27, connecting Longmont, Niwot and Lafayette directly with Denver International Airport. RTD’s final service plan calls for hourly buses in a daily 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. window. The standard Airport Day Pass costs $10 under RTD’s existing fares; the change is the direct connection, not a fare cut.

In Longmont, the route starts at 8th Avenue and Coffman Street, then serves the Niwot and Lafayette Park-n-Rides on its way to the airport. Riders at those stops can make the airport trip without a transfer. RTD lists AL among services in its Sept. 27 schedule index.

Who pays the standard airport fare?

The $10 standard Airport Day Pass covers travel across RTD’s system for the service day, including the airport trip. A standard monthly pass also includes airport travel. RTD says discount fares include airport travel without an additional airport charge for eligible riders, including people 65 or older, people with disabilities, Medicare recipients and enrolled LiVE customers. Youth 19 and under and active-duty U.S. military members ride free; RTD requires proof of eligibility.

Check the departure before a flight

The 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. service window does not specify when a bus leaves each stop. Travelers should check the Route AL timetable for their boarding point and travel day before relying on the bus for a flight, especially an early departure or late return.
